The Story Behind the Mission
What is Windows To Paradise? Where did it come from? And where is it going?
Windows To Paradise is a community of believers — Catholic and Orthodox, lay and clergy, young and old — united by a simple conviction: that the saints still have something to say to us, and that the streets of America are exactly where their words belong.
We are not a corporation. We are not a media company. We are a grassroots mission, funded by sponsors, fueled by prayer, and built on the belief that beauty and truth can reach people in the most unexpected places — even on a billboard.
The idea was born from a simple picture: imagine someone you love — maybe they've drifted from the faith, maybe they're just carrying a heavy load — and while driving through town, they start to see signs in the sky. Billboards of the saints, like icon screens stretching across the city. The captivating writings of these halo-crowned witnesses, captioned in quick quotes, becoming the food for thought nourishing the minds of our loved ones on their daily commute.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us." — Hebrews 12:1
That image — of a whole city surrounded by the saints, the way the faithful are surrounded by icons when they walk into a beautiful church — became the seed of Windows To Paradise. What if the church's walls could extend outward, into the world? What if the saints could meet people where they are, on the highway, at the intersection, in the middle of an ordinary Tuesday?
We live in a culture saturated with noise — advertisements selling everything, billboards promising everything except what matters most. Windows To Paradise exists to reclaim that space. Not to sell anything, but to witness. To let the saints speak for themselves.
Paradise is not a place far away. Paradise is a Person — Jesus Christ. The saints are windows to Him. Their words, their faces, their lives point us toward the One who is the source of all holiness, all mercy, all love. That's why we do what we do: to open windows to Paradise in places where people least expect it, and most need it.
We started with a handful of billboards and a prayer. Our hope is to grow — more saints, more cities, more witnesses on the roadside. We dream of billboard campaigns reaching communities across the country, each one funded by local sponsors, championed by local churches, and rooted in the living tradition of the faith.
We're not in a rush. This mission grows the way good things grow — organically, with patience, one billboard at a time. If God wills it, the cloud of witnesses will continue to expand: new saints, new cities, new hearts reached by words that have echoed through centuries.
"Acquire the Spirit of Peace and a thousand souls around you will be saved." — St. Seraphim of Sarov
Windows To Paradise is not a spectator mission. It belongs to every person who believes the saints still speak, every business willing to sponsor a billboard, every church ready to stand behind the message, and every commuter who glances up and lets a saint's words settle into their heart.
If that sounds like something worth being part of, we'd love to have you.
One sponsor. One billboard. One saint's words on the roadside. That's all it takes.
